The Fortus 400 is a medium-volume manufacturing workhorse based on fused deposition modeling (FDM) that supports multiple production-grade thermoplastics. It is capable of realizing complex geometries that are strong enough for functional testing as well as end use. While the Fortus supports a more narrow range of polymers than other tools such as the Objet Connex, the FDM technology enables superior physical properties for a range of thermoplastic materials.
The Fortus 400 has an available print volume of 40.6 x 35.6 x 40.6 cm, with a minimum possible layer height of 0.127 mm.
I been using this printer for a while now, and I believe it truly represents the best that FDM technology can offer. It is also the industrial grade printer that I have used, that has the least maintenance, and the simplest work flow.
